On 15th December 2023, the BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize (STIP) ceremony took place in Hong Kong. The event was graced by the presence of notable dignitaries, including Mr. Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Mr. Fang Jianming, Deputy Commissioner of the Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong SAR; Mr. Wang Weiming, Director-General of the Department of Educational, Scientific & Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR; and Ms. Wu Cheng, Director of the Department of Educational, Scientific & Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR.


Professor Jia Jiaya, a tenured professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Founder-Chairman of SmartMore, was honoured with the "STIP in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics" award.


"With the empowerment of artificial intelligence technology, the manufacturing industry is actively seeking transformation to achieve overall optimisation and a substantial leap in productivity. I founded SmartMore with a dedicated focus on applying artificial intelligence to smart manufacturing. We have developed a new generation of smart manufacturing platforms and highly automated manufacturing research and development systems. Additionally, we have created the world's first multimodal industrial large model, IndustryGPT, to facilitate the intelligent upgrade and digital transformation of the manufacturing industry," expressed Professor Jia Jiaya.

Moreover, Professor Jia Jiaya further stated, "Receiving the BOCHK STIP Award is a significant acknowledgement of our research, educational endeavours, and the innovative accomplishments of SmartMore. This accolade will continue to inspire us to further devote ourselves to research and application in the field of artificial intelligence, while making utmost efforts to drive the progress of smart manufacturing and contribute even more significantly to the re-industrialisation of Hong Kong and the nation's new industrialisation.
